If it Happens: Ronaldo for Sneijder + Cash
An article has been published by ESPNsoccernet in which Dutch and Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder proclaims his desire to play alongside Ronaldo at the Bernabeu. The two combined offer everything anybody would want in a pair of midfielders.
The part that struck my fancy was the tid-bit at the end claiming reports have surfaced involving Sneijder being used as bait to weasel United into giving up their prized winger. As a business-minded person, any kind of trade for Ronaldo juts isn’t in my cards. I wouldn’t do it, even if you gave me 3 Wesley Sneijders. However, as much as I am against the Ronaldo trade, I would love to see Wesley in the Premiership. He’s lightning fast, got a good strong center of gravity, and can strike the ball like nobody’s business.
Ronaldo is as much of a one-man show as AF would allow. On the other hand, players like Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez are more team-oriented, and would welcome the Dutch sharpshooter. Rooney, Tevez, and Sneijder would combine to become the most potent, efficient, in-your-face attacking force United could hope for.
The more and more I look into Premiership football, the more I realize it’s made for a certain type of mental, as well as physical make up. Wesley Sneijder has it, no doubt.
