Update: Cristiano Ronaldo Saga – 6/19
After Portugal’s 3-2 defeat to Germany earlier today, Cristiano Ronaldo was unsurprisingly bombarded with questions concerning his future. He said:
I will speak to Manchester United.
I will try to reach an agreement and we will see.
When asked whether he has made a decision regarding his future with Madrid, he replied:
No, not yet.
Alright here goes.
Cristiano Ronaldo may be the most valuable asset Manchester United, or any club who happen to own the rights, could have in its arsenal (N.P.I). The boy is the future of the game. No, I’m not talking about his dizzying repertoire of step-overs. I’m talking about his incomparable, explosive creativity that has left fans positively benumbed for the past few years. I can remember when skeptics looked at his game and foolishly tagged him as a diver mixed with an over-the-top dosage of stepovers. I highly doubt many can say that about him now. Sure, the step-overs are copious…but they work. During this past season, many have witnessed his mind-blowing shifts of direction that left top-drawer defenders with their knees crossed on countless occasions.
My Point: (if there ever was one?)
Cristiano has the talent to become that once-in-a-generation soccer legend in which this current generation gets the privilege of viewing. Most importantly, this is the generation of Americans who will usher in the soccer revolution. Manchester United, being owned by an American, would be fools to sell him——no matter the price. If I was Malcom (and if I were, I’de get rid of that disaster of a come-over), I wouldn’t sell Cristiano even if Real Madrid were to offer me a kazillion pounds. There simply isn’t a price you can put on greatness.
Side Note
Who expected Portugal to do a lot better? I sure did. Germany’s a great team, but Portugal has the potential to be even better. Hats off the to Germans, hats on for the Portuguese. I expected more…
